Brentwood Community Transport
Social Car Scheme
The Social Car Scheme is a membership scheme costing £10.00 a year. Mileage is charged at 50p a mile with a minimum charge of £3.00 each way.
We are not a quick response service. The scheme requires at least 3 working days notice, preferably as much as possible as the scheme relies on volunteer drivers, driving their own vehicles. They have all been CRB checked and vehicles, insurance etc. meets all legal requirements. All journeys are subject to a driver being available. We currently coordinate 250 to 300 journeys a week, so all volunteers are very busy.
If a member is unable to access a car and needs an accessible vehicle, i.e. they are in a wheelchair and cannot transfer, the scheme offers a service on Wed, Thurs and Friday with an accessible bus. Charges are the same.
Transport can be provided for shopping, opticians, visiting friends, dentist, GP appointments etc. We are unable to provide transport for Hospital Appointments.
If a member wants to travel with another person they need to be registered in their own right, either by meeting the set criteria, or as an escort.
If you have any queries about the scheme please do not hesitate to contact Brentwood Community Transport on 01277 22 80 80 who will be happy to assist.
Minibus Brokerage Scheme
