Community Policing Team News
There has been a marked increase in anti-social behaviour in the village and we are keen to work with you to sort the problem out. Kelvedon Hatch is a lovely place to live and work and we are keen to keep it that way, unfortunately the behaviour of a few is having a detrimental effect on the rest of the residents. If you witness any anti-social behaviour please let us know, any information given will be confidential. With this in mind Kelvedon Hatch Police Office will open at the following times and staffed by a member of the team. There are two reasons for this, firstly it means that we will be on hand to deal with any instances of anti-social behaviour and secondly you will be able to come and speak to us about any concerns you have.

Spring is eventually here and hopefully that means you are all venturing out into your gardens. We have had an increase in burglaries across Brentwood district and although burglaries in the villages is still a small percentage they are however on the increase. With this in mind please make sure that you lock your doors and windows even in the warmer weather. If you have a UPVC door it is not sufficient to just pull the handle up you need to lock it with the key. When you are in your gardens please be mindful that leaving your door open is an open invitation to a passing burglar. Dont leave your car keys in view as 80% of vehicles are stolen using the key. There has also been an increase in theft of garden furniture including plant pots which can be stolen and sold on at boot sales. Please secure them as best as you can.
Farmwatch is going strong, we held our first meeting last month which was well attended and had positive feedback. For those of you who are not aware it is a form of neighbourhood watch aimed specifically at the farming community. This month communication and sharing of information within this community has lead to the arrest of the suspect for some of the local scrap metal thefts. This will have a knock on positive effect in the villages and shows the importance of communication between us and you. I hope this will spur people on to support neighbourhood watch.
On a final note and as a keen although slightly wobbly cyclist I often see adults and children enjoying the villages on bikes. I am painfully aware that some drivers lack consideration for cyclist and walkers; please keep yourselves safe by wearing a helmet and riding responsibly. If you are out on your bikes make sure that you lock them when you leave them even for short periods, the time it takes to unlock it is small compared to the time it takes to walk home. I also have some labels for marking bikes if you would like one let me know and I will drop it in.
